An ambitious project
Begun in July 2024, the installation of this new 4-seater chairlift is one of the most ambitious projects to come to Passy Plaine-Joux in 30 years. Departing from Lac Gris, the new lift will terminate at the top of Barmus, replacing the two existing lifts in this sector, which have now become obsolete. While the chairlift doubles the flow of skiers in winter, in summer it is a must for magnificent hiking and biking trails at the foot of the Fiz mountain range.
A magical ascent through lush forests and flower-filled alpine meadows
The Barmus chairlift, with its attractive fare of €5 for the ascent and €7 for the return trip, enables hikers and mountain bikers to effortlessly reach the summit of the Passy Plaine-Joux ski resort. Comfortably seated on the 4-seater bench, the climb winds its way through fir forests and flower-filled alpine meadows, arriving in just a few minutes at the summit of Barmus. Here, a breathtaking panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc massif and the Chaîne des Fiz is revealed. A real feast for the eyes, perfect for delighting young and old alike!
A hiker’s paradise
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or an occasional stroller, the Barmus chairlift is the ideal starting point for exploring Passy’s natural wonders with ease. A major asset for effortless elevation gain, it saves around 45 minutes’ walking, allowing hikers to concentrate on discovering new trails. Winding through a variety of landscapes, from verdant forests and alpine meadows to panoramic ridges, each hike invites you to discover the local flora and fauna, and take in spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
